MATASSA WINES
by Tom Lubbe
New Zealander grown in South Africa...there was not good hopes ;) and instead the super Thomas Lubbe moved permanently to Calce (Roussillon), creating the Domaine Matassa. 15 hectares of vineyards planted on exceptional terroirs! Here the vines ranging from 30 years of age to even 115 years, are pampered and "raised in freedom"! No input is tolerated in the estate, except for very low doses and only in rare cases of sulfur added to the bottling, to guarantee the stability of the wines.
Surrounded by the Mediterranean scrub, we find Macabeu, Muscat a petit grain, Muscat of Alexandria, Grenache Gris, Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan, in short, the whole range of indigenous grapes characteristic of this area which, worked by the wise hand of Tom, create juices with extreme drinkability and vitality. Impossible not to fall in love with it!
