Recently landed in Beaujolais, Raphaël Beysang is certainly one of the winemakers you'll hear more about in the coming years in the small world of natural wines. Alsatian of origin, after starting in Alsace and then moving on from Auvergne, in particular by Vincent Marie (No Control), he went to permanently pitch his tent in St Germain Nuelles. With his partner Emelie, who came directly from Patrick Bouju, they work 7 hectares of Gamay, Raphaël's favorite grape. Here, zero chemistry with the exception of some treatments with copper and sulfur, supplemented by biodynamic herbal teas. In the cellar, Raphaël and Emelie are among those winemakers who refuse to use the smallest dose of sulphites, simply because they try to make the wines they want. Looking for profiles "with a high degree of drinkability", Raphaël and Emelie's Gamay certainly have a funky side, but they are still very very interesting. A young domaine to follow...drink and you'll understand!
